The annual Mead Day will be held at Mike Fairchild's place in Appleton on Saturday, October 6, at noon. For more information or directions email him. Don't forget that our club brew will be the following day, October 7, at 1:00 P.M. at Trevor LaRene's place.
I have informed the other Rackers officers of my intention to step down as webmaster at the end of the year. It's been a great 10 years, but my schedule doesn't allow me the time I once had to give the site the attention it deserves. Since this position requires some very specific skills (i.e. basic knowledge of the Internet, HTML, CSS, some Javascript, etc.) I wanted to inform everyone well ahead of the elections. Thanks for this opportunity to serve.

Don't forget about the club brew tomorrow! I won't be able to be there, however, as the 4th is also my little girl's birthday.
On Thursday Michael Jackson aka The Beer Hunter passed away. He had been suffering from Parkinson's Syndrome. A list of online tributes and memorials is available on the Beer Hunter site. There are plans to honor him with a national toast on September 30. It will also be a fundraiser for the National Parkinson Foundation. No one has done more to foster the appreciation of good beer than Michael Jackson. In pace requiscat.

Well, it was ten years ago today that this very website went live. It wasn't "rackers.org" yet, but it was a site. For kicks, you can visit the Internet Wayback Machine and see this site in its various incarnations over the years. I also dug up the earliest version of the front page that I could find. Don't bother clicking on any of the links on that page because I'm sure they're all broken. Thanks for letting me be your little window to the web world for the past decade!

Don't forget that this Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of this very website with yours truly as the webmaster. Raise the appropriate beverage in celebration!
Trevor LaRene has elected to take advantage of the new club brew rules and has called an audible. The October club brew will begin on Sunday, October 7, at 1:00 P.M. He is planning on mashing upwards of 40# of grain and making two beers from it. To quote the man himself, "Yes, that means TWICE the opportunity for something to go tremendous awry, resulting in TWICE the hilarity for all observing parties!" He promises to have a T.V. available if the brew goes into the Packers-Bears game at 7:15. Why anyone would care about the Packers or Bears is beyond me, but hey.

Well, if you missed today's meeting, you missed me being fake President! Anywho, there has been a scheduling change for September. We will now be meeting at Brad Stillamank's place on the day after Labor Day. Directions will be sent out in advance by our non-fake President.

Hey kids! Don't forget about the big brewing bonanza at my place tomorrow! Be there! If you didn't get the email with directions from Ryan, email me for the scoop. Five brewers, five beers, 5x the USRDA of brewing merriment!
