Eagle-eyed Racker, Chris Schroeder, noticed a problem with the entry forms for this year's Titletown Open. The BJCP style category #7, Amber Hybrid Beer, was accidentally omitted from the list of styles. Corrected forms are now available for download. Mike sends along a big ol' "mea culpa" for the mistake.
There is a nice article in the Life section of today's Green Bay Press-Gazette on Dave Siegel's beer appreciation class being conducted at Titletown Brewing. Mike Conard is quoted as well and it includes a link to this humble website. Check it out.

Hey kids! It's that time of year! The official entry forms for our Titletown Open XI homebrew competition have been posted to this very website. The Open will be held on Saturday, April 30. Entries are due by Thursday, April 28. Get brewing! Remember, the Titletown Open is a part of the Homebrew Interclub Competition Cup (HICCUP).

Don't forget that the club brew is on Tuesday at Dan Rogers' place! Bob sent directions out to everyone. If you didn't receive them, rattle his cage.
Trevor LaRene also sent word of a new competition in the southern part of the state called the Schooner Homebrew Championship. It will be held on September 17, 2005, in Racine as a part of the Great Lakes Brew Fest. More details will follow on the Schooner site.

gak sent along this link which details the fine art of beer snobbery. Guilty as charged.

We now have a few pictures of Bob brewing his bock at Titletown.

Don't forget about our meeting tomorrow! In other news, gak emailed to let us know that TrimB's in Appleton has tapped a keg of 'Sconnie Pale Ale and Peabody's in Oshkosh has a keg of 'Sconnie Oktoberfest Bock. If anyone could bring some of this to the meeting, I'd be eternally grateful.
There is now an official website for HICCUP, Homebrew Interclub Competition Cup. HICCUP is the new name for the Fox Valley Cup for Keggers. The name change came about because it was somewhat unclear ("kegging" was never involved) and the acronym couldn't be used on a family website like this. Thank gak for getting the site up and running. The link is now on the menu on the right of this page too.
I also received word through the ALEs that there is a Belgian Beer Festival planned for April 15-16 at Kendall College in Chicago. The 15th is more of a trade show and the 16th is a public tasting. Tickets for the latter are $30.00 in advance and $35.00 at the door. For more information, contact either Richard Cooper, Project Manager: 773-330-9886 or the Office of Wallonia Trade: 312-357-0992.
Last, but certainly not least, I have received permission to reprint the article on the Rackers that appeared in the Green Bay News-Chronicle's This Week magazine. You can read the article here, lovingly converted into the finest XHTML by yours truly.

A very special welcome to anyone visiting this site after reading about us in the This Week magazine in your local paper. Just one minor clarification from the article, we have in fact three Lutheran pastors in the club. There was also a nice article on the new brewery up here in Oconto Falls. The cover is graced by a full House of Homebrew pint glass.

Our new members have been added to the email directory. Welcome! Also, David Oldenburg took a break from dealing with the Wilhelm long enough to send along some pictures from the club brew last week.

We had quite a nice crowd at ye olde House of Homebrew on Tuesday. Five new members joined! Jeremy LeMere volunteered to host our May club brew. Thanks, Jeremy! With that, our club brew schedule for 2005 is filled. Thanks go out to all who volunteered!

gak sends along good news that his beers are once again available in the Fox Valley! Here's the scoop:
By the time you read this, Peabody's Ale House in Oshkosh will have taken delivery of a half-barrel of 'Sconnie Rustic Trail Amber Ale (my Altbier) and a couple of cases of 'Sconnie Tall Blonde Ale (my Kölsch), thanks to newly-appointed route driver John Peterson. I don't know when Wally is planning to make the beers available to you, so start pestering him now.
If anyone who lives or works near Oshkosh could pick some up before a meeting (tomorrow even?), that would be great. By the way, 'Sconnie Ales has a website for your perusal.

Happy New Year! Remember that the club brew is at the House of Homebrew this Tuesday. If you haven't been there yet for some insane reason, they have directions on their website.
