Everybody should have received an email by now, but here's your reminder that tomorrow is the official grand opening of the House of Homebrew. The mayor of Green Bay will be on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 A.M. I plan on sneaking down there.

Don't forget about the club brew tonight at Mike Conard's place in Kewaunee. I hope to be there, assuming that this cold doesn't kill me in the meantime.

Well, as those of you who are there have already noticed, I didn't make it tonight. This bug made me cringe at the thought of trying to drive a couple hours. One of these days I'll make it out to Mike's place . . .

We are proud to announce that the Green Bay Rackers won the tiebreaker to bring home the first ever Fox Valley Cup for Keggers! W00t! Yeah team!

I forgot to mention it on the actual date, but August 26th marked the seventh anniversary of this very website. Who would have thought that, after I opened my big mouth about knowing some HTML at one of my first meetings, I'd still be doing this so many years later. Thanks to everyone who helped make this site, um, whatever it is.

Did I mention that the House of Homebrew is open? Go buy stuff! We get a 10% discount.

Finally, John Parsons sent along this very disturbing link about Pittsburgh Brewing's use of an aluminum beer bottle. That's just plain wrong on so many levels. It would, however, certainly prevent skunking.

Yes, folks, the day has finally come! The House of Homebrew, co-owned by our own President Bob, officially opens! Normal store hours will be 11 A.M.-7 P.M. on Tuesday-Friday and 11 A.M.-5 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday. Stop in and say hi! And buy stuff!

Make sure to set your VCRs to record the Discovery Channel to record Monster Garage tonight at 8:00 P.M., tomorrow at 11:00 P.M., or Sunday at 1:00 PM. Lee Chase of Stone Brewing Co. and John Legnard of Sandlot Brewery/Coors join Jesse James and the gang to convert a 1963 International Fire Truck into a mobile brewery. The resulting vehicle will also make an appearance at this year's GABF.

I finally racked the club brew to a secondary today. That White Labs California Ale V seems to take its merry old time fermenting. It started before I went to bed the night of the club brew. It still had a kraesen head a week and a half later! Thankfully, it fermented out fine. I tasted it and thought, "Man, this is underhopped!" All of the sudden, WHAM!, the hops hit me like a ton of bricks. It will now dry-hop for a while.

You should have received an email with directions to my place. It's about 1/2 hour north of Green Bay. My brew will commence at about 3:00 P.M. so I can get done at a decent hour. Jason's will follow around 5:00 P.M., I believe. Please go to the back door on the driveway side of the house. Most things will be going on in the garage anyway.
