Attention Mike Jarvela, Jim Enloe, and John Charlier! The email addresses we have for you no longer work. Please email me with your new address!

Whew! After an awful couple of weeks, I can play webmaster again! Don't forget about the club brew at Mike Conard's place in Kewaunee on September 9. Also mark down gak's Oktoberfest/Septembeerfest at his place in Zion on September 20. Sadly, I will have to miss both events due to the impending birth of assistant brewer #4.
The Big Bull Falls Homebrew Club announces their first annual homebrew competition to be held on September 14 at Stratford, WI. For more details visit their website.
And finally, gak was apparently sick of hearing Gary Glitter's Rock and Roll, Part 2 all the time, so he turned his broken goalie stick into a new mash paddle. Sieve!

Here's an idea for a future look for rackers.org. It is a work in progress. It uses all CSS for the layout, so it even looks good in a text-based browser like Lynx. I'm guessing it would look like total garbage in Netscape 4.x. Basically if you are using any modern browser (IE6, Mozilla, Konqueror, Opera, etc.) it should look fine. Let me know what you think about it.

Don't forget about our meeting tomorrow at Titletown! In other news, gak lets us know that Japanese research indicates that bitter beers curb the development of fat [note: link repaired] inside the body. He also sent this link with example BJCP scoresheets to show judges and entrants how scoresheets should look. Finally, the Food Network will have a show on the Great American Beer Festival. Set your Tivos because it is on at 5:30 on Sunday morning. Update! The message I got from the AOB is wrong. The show will be on at 5:30 in the evening on Sunday.

More pictures have been posted! These are from our June picnic and the July club brew. Thanks go out to Dan Rogers and Bob Franklin for their photographic skillz.
Someone from Heritage Hill posted on Racker411, begging, nay, pleading for someone to brew there for Belgian Farm Days on August 9. No word on whether or not you have to supply your own Belgian farmer.
Lastly, gak sent along this link which does in depth "scientific" research into whether or not beer improves your golf game. I would just love to see the hate mail they get from that one!

Yesterday, I whipped up a sweet little bit of Javascript for the site. Basically, I entered all the meeting information. The script reads your system date and properly displays the next meeting date and time. Of course, it will only be useful if you have your system date set properly. If you have Javascript disabled, it will tell you to visit our meeting schedule page instead. For fun, you can change your system date around and reload the page. It will display what the next meeting would be. It assumes 2003 though, so going ahead or back a year won't matter. If you wonder how it works, click here. Better living through programming.

Don't forget, tomorrow is the Club Brew at Jay Brown's house. President Bob recently sent out directions. Jay will be starting in the afternoon because he is doing an all-grain batch. He said he will have Sloppy Joes, beans, chips, etc. to eat. Be there!
