Old News

October through December 2002

December 31, 2002

Bob Franklin and Fred Matzke are going to be tag-teaming our January club brew. It will be held at Bob's house again (email him for directions). They will be doing an all-grain bock. If you want to come early, they will be starting at 4:00 P.M. so they can get done at a decent hour. Otherwise, join us when you can. See you there!

I hope everyone has a happy New Year's Eve celebration. Here's my annual appeal: get a designated driver! We don't want anyone to become a statistic. Play it safe! Here's to a prosperous New Year!

Kurt Wallinger resent some pictures from our picnic this summer that I had managed to lose. See the Rackers in action!

December 2, 2002

The Christmas party will be held this Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the Cock and Bull pub on Main Street in Green Bay, right by the Musicians Union Hall. Mike will get catered subs from Cousins. Bring some homebrew or buy one of the Cock and Bull's many, many, many, many beers. We will even get our 20th anniversary pint glasses! See you there!

November 2, 2002

It looks like we will not be able to get into the Musicians Union Hall for our club brew on Tuesday. Our illustrious president has graciously offered to host our meeting at his palatial estate in Allouez. He emailed directions to everyone in the club that he has an email address for. If you did not get directions, email him directly. See you there!

November 1, 2002

We're still in need of a brewer for Tuesday's club brew which hopefully will be held at the Musicians Union Hall. If you'd like to brew a batch on the club's nickel, email me.

It seems like the Bugbear worm now has my email address. Once again, I will never ever send you an executable attachment. Delete such unexpected emails unread. Plus, these have "marnold" as my name instead of "Matthew Arnold." That's a tipoff that it didn't come from me. Delete it with extreme prejudice.

I just talked with the folks at LifeTools. Apparently their supplier is switching from Wyeast to White Labs. White Labs' yeast comes in "pitchable" tubes. I've heard good things about them, but never personally used their yeast. I'm having my wife pick me up a couple of smack-packs so I can actually brew. After all, it's altbier season!

On a personal note, I apologize for not being able to be at the October meeting or at gak's get-together. It's been a crazy October for me and it's only going to get busier over the next week. After that, things should be the same old weirdness again :)

October 9, 2002

Jay Brown sends word that LifeTools is switching to some yeast other than Wyeast. Thus all of their Wyeast is available at half price. I wonder what they are switching to?

Richard "gak" Stueven sends along a final reminder for his big Oshtoberfest an die Katzenwiese Fiesta del Cha-Cha this Saturday at 1:00 P.M. Bring homebrew, food, games, etc. He will have a mashing and lautering presentation at 2:00 P.M. If you still don't have directions to his place in Oshkosh, send him an email.

September 14, 2002

Tom Parker sends word that the Green Bay west side Fleet Farm has an electric grill igniter kit similar to the one Bob showed off at our club brew. It is on clearance for $5. If you are interested in making a similar modification to your burner, check this out.

September 6, 2002

This just in! Dan Rogers has graciously offered to be our club brewer this month. I was also informed by our illustrious president that we will be able to use the Musicians Union Hall for the brew. See you there this Tuesday!
