If you want it done right, you have to brew it yourself!
Old NewsApril through June 2002
EZ-Net made some minor behind-the-scenes changes with how CGI scripts are handled. Thus, if you were linking directly to our Racker411 forum, change your link to this new address: http://www.rackers.org/cgi-bin/index.cgi. Everything else should carry on as normal (or what passes for normal around here anyway).
Our illustrious president has offered to take beers down to the State Fair competition. He even said that up to three people could ride along if interested. Send him an email as soon as possible. The competition will be held on July 11. Entry deadline is June 24.
Oh, and how about those Detroit Red Wings?
A good time was had by all at Chuck's place last Saturday. Mike announced that the club got their hands on some little devices that allow you to dispense a corny keg using only paint-gun CO2 cartridges. Just the thing for bringing a keg to parties.
Remember that next month's club brew will be a week later because of the Fourth of July weekend.
The list of this year's Titletown Open winners has been posted!
Congratulations to all who won and all who entered!
Mike Conard is planning on judging at the State Fair Homebrew Competition on July 13 at West
Allis. If you are interested in judging that competition or would like Mike to hand-deliver some entries, please email him.
P.S. No, I don't have the results of the Titletown Open yet. The very
moment I get them, they will be posted here.
Mike needs help! We need several people to volunteer their vast talents for Saturday's Titletown
Open. Unfortunately, I will not be able to be there (for the second year in a row! Ack!) due to a scheduling conflict.
Here's what Mike needs:- Two people on Friday night from 7-10 P.M. to help organize and label bottles.
- Two people
on Saturday from 10 A.M.-4 P.M. to handle the People's Choice category.
- Four to six stewards on Saturday from 10 A.M.-4
P.M.
- One person to enter scores on the computer on Saturday from 10 A.M.-4 P.M.
If you are able to help out, email Mike ASAP!
Mike reports that there is a minor error on the Titletown Open forms. Thankfully, it only applies
to the more esoteric styles. Check out the Titletown Open page for the scoop.
I've gotten email on several more contests coming up in the near future.- The first is a
new one, the Pale Ale Pour, sponsored by the new Appleton Libation Enthusiasts. Only English, American, and India Pale Ales
will be judged. The contest will be on June 8. Email Dave Weaver for more
information.
- The Madison Homebrewers and Tasters Guild will be hosting their annual Big and Huge competition on May 4.
For more information, see their website. On a related note, they
will also be hosting the annual Barleywine and Chocolate Fest scheduled for April 20 at Angelic Brewing in
Madison.
- Don't forget about our own Titletown Open on May 4 at Titletown Brewing in Green
Bay!
gak sent along his first ever Fox River Brewing News, including word of a Sticke
Altbier that is in the works. YES! Looks like I'll be planning a trip to Oshkosh in May.
Site news: I had a
behind-the-scenes spring cleaning on the site, deleting some very old and unnecessary files. If you discover that I deleted
something important, please let me know.
